Missouri Gas Energy (MGE) Extra Help
Dollar
Aide and Dollar Aide Credits (sponsored by Kansas City
Power & Light Company): These are treated as separate funds, but
with the same guidelines. However, Dollar Aide Credits can only be
used to pay a KCP&L bill.
- Applicant
must be an active KCP&L customer.
- KCP&L
account number must be shown on Standard Intake Form (SIF).
- Applicant must be
delinquent on the bill for which they are seeking help.

Assistance must be for heat, electricity, or water.
- Maximum
of $500 in assistance from each fund within year.
- Customer must
have made a payment from personal funds on the bill for which
they are seeking help within 90 days of the date of application.
- Assistance must be
greater than $25.00
Aquila-Care
(Sponsored by Aquila-Care)
- Applicant
must be an active Aquila, Inc. or affiliated company
customer
- Aquila
account number must be shown on SIF.

Assistance must be for heat, electricity or utility equipment
repair.
- Maximum
of $500 in assistance within year.
- Amount to be
paid may be a current amount for utility bills only for which
the applicant is seeking help.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors and Neighbors Helping Neighbors
Credits (sponsored by Missouri Gas Energy): These
are treated as separate funds, but with the same guidelines.
However, NHN Credits can only be used to pay an MGE bill.
- Applicant
must be an active Missouri Gas Energy customer.
- MGE
account number must be shown on SIF.

Assistance for energy-related needs of natural gas, electricity,
other heating fuels or cooling equipment (if equipment is owned
by applicant), or water.
- Other
critical expenses (medical, phone, shelter) can be paid up to
the sum of energy bills paid within the previous 30-day period
(client must show proof of payment).
- Maximum
of $200 in assistance within year.
- Amount to
be paid may be a current amount for utility bills for which
the applicant is seekink help, or a settlement amount
(average bill payment plan) if paying an MGE bill.

Customer must have made a payment from personal funds on the
bill for which they are seeking help within 90 days of the date
of application.
Warmth
& Light (part of the Project Warmth Campaign sponsored
by KC Star and KCTV5)
- Agencies
set own income eligibility, residency and verification of need
procedures (these should be submitted to MAAC for review and
coordination).

Assistance may be for any heating fuel, electricity, water,
local telephone if needed for health reasons, and deposits on
utility accounts in emergency cases.

Assistance in excess of $500 must be approved by the MAAC Fund
Manager.
- Payments
must insure that service will be continued for 60 days or that
disconnected service will be reconnected for at least 60 days.
Jackson County Energy Assistance Program
- Applicant
must be a resident of Jackson County.
- Funds may
be used to pay the following utility charges: Natural,
Artificial or Propane Gas; Electricity and Electrical Current;
Wood, Coal or Home Heating Oil; Water.
- Priority
shall be given to any eligible applicant who is: Head of
household that includes children; Sixty years of age or older;
Disabled, under guidelines published by state or federal
government.

Assistance in excess of $500 must be approved by the MAAC Fund
Manager
- Payments
must insure that service will be continued for 60 days or that
disconnected service will be reconnected for at least 60 days
Missouri
Gas Energy (MGE) Extra Help (When Available)
- Applicant
must be an MGE customer
- Funds may
be used to pay MGE gas bill
- Applicant
must apply for LIHEAP funding if eligible
- Applicant
must have made a payment on a gas bill within 90 days of
application
- MGE
assistance of $1000. per household, assistance more than $600.00
must be approved by MAAC utility manager.
