Information and Referral in Kansas City:

 In March 2006 the Heart of America United Way established a centralized number for people in need to call any time of day or night. This line replaces MAAC’s Information and Referral service.

 2-1-1 is an easy-to-remember central phone number connecting people with available community resources and volunteer opportunities. Trained, professional Call Specialists assess the caller's needs and make appropriate referrals.  The service covers 16 counties in Missouri and 7 counties in Kansas, 24/7/365.

 MAACLink data regarding available utility assistance will be provided to the 2-1-1 Call Specialists so that appropriate referrals will be made to low-income utility customers.
